Snakes are coming back into some people's yards. Falyn Owens with the NC Wildlife Resources Commission explains a few ways you can coexist with snakes.

<p>What snakes are mostly looking for is, um, places to hide. Snakes need sheltered places where they can feel safe and um, around homes. That's most when you eat all um, dense like I and really thick leaf litter, um, or, or piles of rocks or logs or sticks. Uh So sort of natural hiding places, um, are going to be attractive to snakes and uh give them a, a place to live. Um, snakes are also looking for food and a lot of the snake that most people are worried about eat rodents and the same types of natural hiding places that snakes like to hide in also make great places for rodents as well. So, um, when somebody's looking for ways to keep snakes away from their yard, reducing those, those natural hiding places are just gonna basically make snakes less comfortable and prey less comfortable. So they're not as likely to be around. Um, we do have almost 40 different species of snakes in North Carolina and many of those are normally found in neighborhoods and residential areas. So, um, doesn't necessarily mean you're going to see more snakes because snakes ring around people regardless. But on the rational level, I can tell people that snakes are not interested in fighting human beings. Um even venomous snakes, they don't want to use their venom on anything that they can't actually consume and then is a limited resource. So they don't want to bite, inject them into something that they can't eat because that might mean that they can't actually do prey and have a meal for the next several days. Um, so snakes don't want to bite people relocations. Uh Some there are people who will do snake relocations, but snakes tend to not do very well when they're relocated. So, um the best way that, that we can um recommend people deal with a snake that they've seen in their yard is basically just to either wait because you know, the, the snake is gonna move on, they, they don't stay in one place for very long. So if somebody sees a snake in their yard and they really don't want it there, um We do recommend just, just wait for a little bit because if you check back in a couple of hours, it's likely to have moved on completely on all on its own without any help from people, especially if you scared it and kind of disturbed it a little bit. It's gonna, it's gonna go, wanna go somewhere else. Um Especially around the house. If somebody has a snake in a place where they cannot let it, um just go on its own time, uh, like on the front porch, like right next to the front door or something like that. Um, a great way to get a snake to move a little bit faster is to spray it with a water hose. Uh, because you can do that at a safe distance. It doesn't harm the snake, but it certainly gets the snake very interested in finding someplace else to be very quickly. So that can be an excellent humane and effective way to get a snake to move somewhere else, um, without having to take it up or harm it.</p>

I'm meteorologist, Kat Campbell in the severe weather center. High temperatures, Tuesday, we're in the mid to upper seventies and temperatures should slowly climb from here. We are expecting temperatures to warm up into the eighties by Thursday and Friday. Looking ahead at the next three days, Wednesday, 77 for the high, we do have a chance for rain. It's about a 30% chance mainly some drizzle in the morning, but a few hit or miss light showers during the afternoon. Otherwise Thursday, it's another cloudy start more clouds, sun, but at least some sunshine later in the day. 80 for the high. Thanks to that sunshine later on and Friday partly cloudy. A 20% chance for rain and temperatures should warm back up into the mid eighties again on Friday. The next several mornings will be similar to what we've been seeing in the morning. A lot of clouds, some patchy drizzle to start the day, just kind of a gray start to the day with improvements, cloud cover about 90% in the morning, if not 100%. And then during the afternoon, we see those clouds really back off and only 60 to 70% of the sky should be covered by clouds during the afternoons. Your playground planner for your Wednesday 62 at eight AM with a 30% chance for rain and by 40 clock we're up to 77 it should be a nice afternoon out there at the playground. Just check in on the to do 5000 radar before you do head outside. There is still a small chance for rain during the afternoons. Low pressure that we've been watching all Memorial Day weekend responsible for our dreary weather has moved offshore still. We've got the northeast wind and that's what's drawing in a lot of the low level of moisture and that's what's causing the clouds and some of the drizzle that we are seeing in the mornings, but it's just not adding up too much. When you look at our forecast rain over the next five days, barely adds up to anything less than a quarter of an inch in most spots, maybe 1/100 of an inch. So these are just very light, low impact showers. If you have a garden that requires a lot of water, you'll still want to keep watering. It's just not enough rain to really make a difference, but maybe you can hold off a couple of days. Thanks to some of the rain we saw over the weekend, we are tracking something new potentially toward the tropics. This is in the Gulf of Mexico. There's an area of low pressure that may try to develop about a 20% chance that it would develop in the next week. So the chance of development is still pretty low. It's likely to cross over Florida this weekend. So if you do have plans in Florida this weekend, they're looking pretty wet moving offshore as we get into Sunday, this could bring an enhanced risk of rip currents to the North Carolina coast and South Carolina Coast. We head into Sunday and early next week as of right now, now, with the system being steered to the north and east, I wouldn't see any direct impacts on North Carolina, but just a heads up if you're headed to the beach for that rip current risk. Looking ahead, our seven day forecast features a warm up a couple of days in the mid 80 s to come Friday and Saturday each day does come with a small chance for rain. At least up until Sunday. Sunday. We see temperatures going down a bit behind Saturday's cold front. Saturday's cold front could spark off a few thunderstorms during the evening.

Crash closes both directions of US 70 from Pleasant Drive to Lynn Road in east Durham

Iran executed three tortured protesters after a four-month pause, sparking new anti-government protests across the country.

Outside a jail near Tehran. Families of prisoners gathered chant do not hang them. Their pleas come as Iran resumes the execution of protesters after a months long hiatus. The brutal practice restarted this month with the hanging of three young men accused of killing three members of the security forces during anti government protests in November. The news sparked more demonstrations but activists and human rights groups say the allegations against the trio are baseless. Majid Kazmi was forced to watch video of interrogators torturing his brother and he was subject to at least 15 mock executions according to Amnesty International. In an audio obtained by the organization, he maintained his innocence. CNN cannot independently verify the clip. They kept beating me and ordering me to say this weapon is mine. He says I told them I would say whatever they wanted. Just please leave my family alone before his execution. The family of 36 year old Salem Mir Hashami, a karate coach from Esfahan tried to draw attention to his plight. This picture of his father spread on social media. My son is innocent. The sign reads but to no avail. Activists shared this heartbreaking video. They say Ismar Hashemi's dad hugging his picture as he lay by his son's grave. Iran has not responded to CNN'S request for comment. The total number of demonstrators known to have been executed since last year now stands at seven. According to CNN reporting and more executions are likely eminent. Over 100 protesters have been sentenced to death or are facing charges punishable by death. Says this human rights activist when authorities fear protests or right after protest, the number of executions go up. The aim is create fear in the society to prevent more protests. Do you expect that the number of executions is going to rise even more this year. It is rising already unless the international community takes a strong move against these executions. We might be facing a very large number of executions in the coming months. Rights groups say that Mohammad Roat Lo a 22 year old protester with a mental health issue could be one of the next victims of Iran's execution. Machine activists are ringing the alarm. They say yet another Iranian faces death just for daring to speak out some Abdo Aziz CNN London.

Iran resumes executions of protestors

A 1-year-old child died after being left in a car outside a hospital while the foster mother went into work.

This is a tragic incident and our hearts go out to the family and those who everyone who was affected by this. Pua police underscoring the grief. Many are feeling by the loss of this one year old. It happened Wednesday when police say temperatures outside were in the seventies but topped 100 in the car. Piola. Police say the mother offering foster care for the child distracted and left them in her car as she went to work in a social services job at the hospital. Hours later, she returned to the car and rushed the child into the hospital but it was too late. Do get warmer. So lives are hectic right now with everything and a lot going on in everyone's families and lives and throughout the world. So it's a good time to slow down and just take a double take and be aware of what we have around us and our families. Multicare released a statement reading a tragic incident took place at the good Samaritan campus Wednesday involving an employee and their child. This incident also impacted a number of our other team members. Multicare has offered a number of paths for support for our employees. We extend our condolences to everyone involved.
