Raleigh

Aggregate Theatre Company’s children’s theater series begins this week with The Three Billy Goats Gruff. Shows run through Saturday at the Church on Morgan in downtown Raleigh. Tickets are $10 for kids, $12 for adults, $40 for a family four-pack and $150 for a family season pass (which includes four tickets to each show). This is the first of four family shows for the company this month.
Raleigh Little Theatre’s Into the Woods wraps up this weekend with select shows through Aug. 5. This musical pulls in storylines from Cinderella, Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood and more. It’s presented by RLT’s Teens on Stage and Teens Backstage. Tickets start at $15.
N.C. Japan Summer Festival is 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, at the NC State Fairgrounds. Advanced tickets are $5 for ages 13 and up. The day includes Japanese food, music, performances and traditional Japanese games for kids.
Downtown Raleigh hosts one of its massive food truck rodeos from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday. There will be a half mile of food trucks and restaurants spread out over 11 city blocks.

Durham

The Friends of the Durham Library’s new location, Books Among Friends, is having a book sale starting at noon, Saturday, at its shop inside Northgate Mall. All fiction in this one-day sale is half-price. Hardbacks are $1.50, trade paperbacks are $1, and small paperbacks are 50 cents. Nonfiction books are priced at hardbacks for $3, trade paperbacks for $2, and small paperbacks for $1. Young adult books are $1, and children’s books are 25 cents to $1. AV materials are $1 to $4, and special books are priced as marked.
Hux Family Farm will host a farm tour with goat cuddle time (yes!) from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Sunday. Tickets are $10.

Chapel Hill

Paperhand Puppet Intervention opens its 19th summer show on Friday at Forest Theatre.
Sunday is Pay What You Can Day at Kidzu Children’s Museum. On the first Sunday of each month, the children’s museum opens its doors to all, regardless of whether they can afford the $8.50 per person admission fee. Kidzu is open on a donation basis.

Cary

Ventriloquist Darci Lynne, the 13-year-old America’s Got Talent winner, will perform a live show at Booth Amphitheatre starting at 6 p.m., Sunday.
Head over to Cary's Page-Walker Arts and History Center for a look at local artist Mike Slobot's free exhibit "Robots on Every Corner." It's open through Saturday.

Wake Forest

The region’s newest Code Ninjas location will celebrate its grand opening with special free activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday.

Zebulon

The Carolina Mudcats will celebrate the birthday of its mascot, Muddy, with special events at its 7 p.m., Friday, game. Mascot friends from other teams will join in the fun. The game ends with fireworks.
