10-year-old killed in wreck on I-95 in Robeson County; mom charged with DWI

A 10-year-old was killed in a crash Tuesday morning in Robeson County and the mother was charged, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

LUMBERTON, N.C. — A 10-year-old was killed in a crash Tuesday morning in Robeson County and the mother was charged, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 1:21 a.m. on Interstate 95.

A driver in a Honda Accord crossed the middle of the road and hit a tractor-trailer heading in the opposite direction near mile marker 28. The tractor-trailer then turned over. The child died at the scene of the crash.

Quinnelli Shanice McKoy was charged with driving while impaired, felony death by motor vehicle and driving with a suspended license. McKoy, 28, and the truck driver were both taken to the hospital for their injuries.
