CLAYTON, N.C. — Members of what a town spokesman called "rival motorcycle gangs" got into a fight Wednesday night in Clayton, and one person was shot. Four others involved in the fight had cuts to their heads "from weapons used," the spokesman told WRAL News.

Clayton police said there was a fight and shooting between two motorcycle gangs outside on the patio area at the Cleveland Draft House around 10 p.m. The fight then spilled over into the parking lot.

Members of an additional motorcycle gang might have also been at the fight, according to police.

Dalton Emmanuel Lapierre, 26, of Clayton, was shot in the thigh during the fight.

Four others -- Kenneth John Keisler, 49, of Wendell, Charles Joseph Nagy, 28, of Richmond, Va., Joddy Lee Grider, 50, of Clayton, and Michael Earl Neibert, 44, of Raleigh -- were found severely beaten in the head and face. All five of the injured men were also taken to WakeMed for treatment.

The 911 call for the shooting showed the chaos outside of the restaurant.

"There's a big biker brawl outside my back door. At least one person's been shot," an employee of the restaurant told dispatchers. "There's a bunch of bikers beating [him] up. They're beating him up bad."

A motorcycle, pickup truck, numerous guns and "blunt force instruments" were believed to have been used in the assaults. Those items were confiscated by police.

The manager of Cleveland Draft House said a bartender got suspicious and locked the doors after seeing a car quickly pull up behind the restaurant.

"We are thankful that our staff and patrons were not involved in what became quite a brawl," said a statement from the restaurant. "We did not recognize any of those who were involved as regular patrons who frequent our establishment.”
