One million infant slings are being recalled and parents with infants younger than four months are being told to immediately stop using those recalled slings.

Both the Infantino "SlingRider" and "Wendy Bellissimo" infant slings are being recalled after the deaths of at least three infants last year - a 7-week-old infant in Philadelphia, a six-day-old infant in Oregon and a three-month-old in Cincinnati.

Infantino is offering free replacement products. Read more about the recall and what you should do if you have one of the slings in this news story and on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website.

This month, the commission warned about the use of sling carriers for babies. A mandatory standard is being developed for the slings. But, in the meantime, the commission is working with companies to develop a voluntary standard.
