1 Arrested For Shooting Teen in Durham

One teen was in jail Thursday night for shooting another teen during an argument at Carver Pond Apartments in Durham.

DURHAM, N.C. — One teen was in jail Thursday night for shooting another teen during an argument at Carver Pond Apartments in Durham.

Deandre Boyd, 17, of Overlook Drive, shot Ricky Demario Hill Jr. twice, including once in the chest, police said.

Officers responded to calls about a shooting at 4001 Meriwether Drive shortly after 3 p.m. Upon arrival, they found the wounded Hill. He was transported to Duke University Hospital.

A few minutes after a suspect description was broadcast, Officers H.L. Davis and R.C. Swartz spotted Boyd in the parking lot of Oxford Commons, at 3500 N. Roxboro Road. Boyd was taken into custody without incident, officers said.

Boyd faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury. He was being held in the Durham County jail under a $500,000 bond.
