Power restored after Durham crash

A car hit a power pole in Durham, leaving more than 1,000 people without power Tuesday morning.

DURHAM, N.C.Update, 8:30 a.m.: Power has been restored to most customers, according to Duke Energy.

A car hit a power pole in Durham, leaving more than 1,000 people without power Tuesday morning.

Authorities said two people were in the car when it hit a power pole at Hillandale Road and Club Boulevard.

The two suffered minor injuries. Speed and alcohol were not believed to be factors, authorities said.

Duke Energy’s outage map showed more than 1,000 customers were without power near U.S. Highway 15/501 and N.C. Highway 147.
