RALEIGH, N.C. — A witness watched a woman intentionally ram her vehicle into a Raleigh car dealership and flee from police, according to a 911 call released Thursday.

Police said, Karen McGlasson Harold, 58, of Lucama, crashed into the Cabriolet Motors dealership at 1540 Lumley Road just before 10 p.m. The side of the building was significantly damaged, but nobody was inside at the time of the crash because the business closed at 7 p.m.

“He’s driving into the window,” said 911 caller Jackie Vane, who was watching the crash unfold from across the street.

“He needs to get arrested because he’s hitting up the car dealer. He’s inside the building,” Vane continued, inadvertently referring to the driver as a man.

According to arrest warrants, Harold crashed her 2004 Honda Accord into the car dealership and damaged several cars, including a 2015 Audi Q7, a 2008 Porsche Carrera, a 2008 Porsche 911 Turbo and a 2015 Porsche 911 Turbo. The damaged totaled about $250,000, according to the dealership owner.

"She hit the wall and I'm like 'okay, no she didn't just run into that wall. Then, she backed up, lined the car up, went again, hit the way, went again, kept hitting until she landed on the inside," Vane said. "Then she backed up and tore up the little car over there. Just kept hitting cars and then she left."

At one point, Vane said Harold hit the building so hard, her car was smoking.

"I thought the car was going to catch on fire," she said.

According to Vane,Harold drove onto the sidewalk and into the store. She then backed out, hitting another car.

“He’s trying to back out, but there’s another little small car in his way, so he’s trying to back out, so he’s tearing that car up,” Vane said. “Oh my God, now he’s like half way on the sidewalk and he’s coming out. We need cops here because he might leave.”

Moments later, Vane tells the dispatcher that Harold has driven away from the dealership, passing patrol cars on Lumley Road in the process.

“When the cop was coming toward him, he went around him,” she said.

At some point, Harold also tried to ram her car into a vehicle driven by a Raleigh fire fighter who responded to the crash, according to arrest warrants.

After the crash at the dealership, the warrants said Harold "unlawfully and willfully" crashed her car into an ambulance with two people inside. The warrant said she then tried to ram her vehicle into a Wake County EMS ambulance driven by another person who also responded to the incident.

"She made a U-turn, hit a couple of cars over there, went out of the parking lot, whent screaming down teh street and that's when she ran into the ambulance," Vane said.

No one was seriously injured.

Harold was charged with assault with a deadly weapon on a government official, felony hit and run injury and assault with a deadly weapon, according to arrest reports. She was jailed on a $100,000 secure bond.

Officials said Harold did not work at the dealership and was never a customer.

Harold's attorney, Bill Young, appeared in court on her behalf Thursday and told a judge there was an involuntary commitment order taken out for her by family members in Wilson County.

Young issued an involuntary commitment order for Harold in Wake County, who was transferred from a jail to Holly Hill Hospital for mental health treatment.

Despite the damage, the dealership remained open Thursday.
