RALEIGH, N.C. — A tweet by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention about ticks grossed out the internet this week, causing the post to go viral.
In the tweet from May 4, the CDC compared the size of a tick to the size of a poppyseed, then asked Twitter users to see if they could spot the five ticks in a photo of a poppyseed muffin.
The tweet was shared more than 1,500 times.
A few days later, the CDC issued an apology tweet saying, "Sorry we ticked some of you off! Don't let a tick bite ruin your summer. Protect yourself."
The CDC also included information to protect yourself from ticks.
