Brevard County, Fla. — A Texas man was arrested in Brevard County, Fla. for aiming to kill and eat a child from an arrangement made over the internet.
The man was taken into police custody after the person he arranged to meet with turned out to be an undercover officer.
“This arrest is one of the most disturbing arrests that I’ve ever seen,” Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said.
Alexander Barter, 21, of Joaquin, Texas, is charged with conspiracy to commit murder, but not just any kind of murder.
“His entire intent was to live out his fantasies, this uncontrollable blood lust, as he called it, of killing a child, doing necrophilia with a child and consuming the child,” Ivey said.
Working the internet, visiting foul chat rooms and websites, a Brevard County undercover agent happened upon Barter’s alleged postings.
“This is an individual that had an inability to control any urges and his urges were horrific, his urges were disgusting, and he was going to act upon these urges,” Ivey said.
Reaching from Florida to Texas, the agent arranged a meeting that included federal and Texas officers.
Ivey said Barter was expecting to meet someone who was actually bringing him a child.
“He showed up with a knife, with bags to take the individual body parts in,” Ivey said.
