Zebulon shooting suspect arrested

Mark Christopher Ray, 34, of Zebulon, was arrested Friday at 5 p.m. at the Regency Inn in Selma, Zebulon Police Chief Timothy P. Hayworth said in a statement.

ZEBULON, N.C. — Police have arrested the suspect in a July 11 shooting at 200 E. Barbee St. in Zebulon.

Mark Christopher Ray, 34, of Zebulon, was arrested Friday at 5 p.m. at the Regency Inn in Selma, Zebulon Police Chief Timothy P. Hayworth said in a statement.

Ray was apprehended without incident and is cooperating with detectives, Hayworth said.

The handgun used in the shooting has also been recovered.

Ray is charged with attempted murder in the shooting of Lorenzo Hinton, 29, of 102 N. State St. in Raleigh. Hinton was shot in the face with a handgun. He underwent surgery at WakeMed, has been released and is recovering at an undisclosed location.

Ray was to be held at the Wake County Jail.
