Your favorite father Darth Vader is back in new 'Rogue One' trailer

Your favorite villainous dad is back.
A new trailer for the upcoming Star Wars prequel spin-off film “Rogue One” dropped on Thursday afternoon, showing viewers a little bit more of the movie’s story, worlds and characters ahead of its release this December.
Most importantly, the trailer’s ending hook includes the darkest dad in the galaxy — Darth Vader.
You can watch the trailer here.
There’s no indication what Darth Vader’s role will be in the upcoming film. But given that this movie takes place between “Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith” and “Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope,” Vader will already be a father to his two children — Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa — who are hiding somewhere throughout the galaxy. So technically, he’s a dad now.
As I’ve written before, the Star Wars films are often rooted in family ties. In fact, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said back in 2015 that the new Star Wars trilogy — which opened with Episode VII, “The Force Awakens,” last December — will be about the Skywalker family once again.
However, “Rogue One,” which stars Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso, will focus on a brand new character without any connection to the Skywalker family, according to Entertainment Weekly.
“Rogue One” opens on December 14.
