— Mike Oliver lost all of his possessions after he believes his home was destroyed by a propane tank explosion Wednesday night – but admits it could’ve been much worse.

Oliver was sitting in a back room inside his Youngsville home when he said an explosion propelled him into the air and set his house on fire.

He said he was thankful his wife and son were not home.

The explosion shook homes as far as a half-mile away, neighbors said.

Oliver said a gas company was in the area earlier in the day, but wasn’t sure why. His home has not run on gas since 2011, he said.

The incident is under investigation.

If he does not have a gas tank how can it explode ? There is something fishy going on here I betcha !

I would like to know the name of the gas company. Since McCracken was bought out, there has been some seriously lousy customer service from the new company

It just says they were in the area, he probably just assumed they were at a neighbor's house that does use gas. It says it hasn't run on gas since 2011 which to me says that it used to and they converted. Chances are there are neighbors that still use it.

I'm sure it will be looked into now though!

If a propane company was at/near my house and I didn't know what they were doing, I'd be finding out real quick.

    Yikes! That is terrifying!

He has a very healthy attitude about it, stuff is replaceable but at least no one was hurt and his son is not going to be traumatized by being home when it happened!

McKracken must have left a leak.... It has to mix with the proper proportions of air before it will explode.

WOW!! Lucky he was not hurt too badly, or I am guessing he was not. Hope that they find out what caused this.
