Raleigh, N.C. — The volunteer boards of the YMCA of the Triangle and the Chapel Hill-Carrboro YMCA voted this week to merge, giving member families access to more facilities and programs across the region.
Effective July 1, the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Y will become a branch of the YMCA of the Triangle and Chapel Hill-Carrboro employees will become employees of the YMCA of the Triangle.
Included in the deal are plans for a new YMCA location in Chatham County.
A YMCA spokeswoman said fees for classes, which are set at the individual branches, and YMCA membership dues, including memberships to all the Ys in the system, were not expected to change.
