CHEYENNE, Wyo. — A junior high school teacher in southeast Wyoming has been charged with sexually abusing his adopted daughter over a three-year period.
The Cheyenne man faces eight counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor. Charging documents say the abuse occurred between May 2014 and April 2017, a period during which the girl was between 14 and 17 years old.
Each count carries a maximum prison term of 50 years.
Laramie County School District 1 Superintendent John Lyttle says the man is a seventh-grade math teacher in Cheyenne but is not currently teaching. Lyttle says the teacher will be placed on administrative leave if the matter is not resolved by the time the new school year begins later this year.
The man was being held on $100,000 cash bond.
