ST. LOUIS, MO — A 99-year-old veteran of World War II made the ceremonial first pitch at Busch Stadium as the Cardinals honored the military on Friday night.

Clarence Adelhardt of Troy, Ill. served in the 7th Armored Division under General Patton during his march through Europe.

"He took through France, they couldn't keep up with the supplies," Adelhardt said.

"He is so thrilled and cannot believe this is happening," said Adelhardt's daughter, Chris Berg.

Adelhardt took part in Military Appreciation Night at Busch.

"It's good, it's very nice," Adelhardt said.
