RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh man died early Tuesday when he was involved in a one-car crash at East Martin Street and Merrywood Drive.

According to the report by police, Calvin Bruce Moore, of 7921 Mandrel Way, 46, was driving a car owned by another Raleigh man when he lost control and slid into a street sign and a large tree.

Police suspect that alcohol and speed played a role in the wreck.

Investigators said State Capitol Police officers tried to stop Moore from going the wrong way down a one-way street, but had suspended their pursuit of him.

A little while later, Raleigh police found the crash scene.
