RALEIGH, N.C. — A wreck victim who banged on the doors of Raleigh homes early Friday had been shot, Raleigh police said.

Police said that Andre Jovan Grover, of 211 Morning Drive in Mount Olive, was driving north at 80 mph along New Hope Road when he struck the back of another vehicle going the speed limit.

Grover's passenger, Andre Tyrell Burnett, 25, of Kenansville, got out of the car and started banging on the doors of homes along Fawn Glen Drive, police said.

One homeowner said that Burnett kicked in the door of his house and came upstairs, yelling for help and bleeding from the head.

Police said that Burnett had been shot. His injuries were non-life-threatening.

Police said they are continuing to investigate the circumstances in which Burnett was shot.

Anyone with information that might be of assistance to detectives is asked to call Raleigh Crime Stoppers at 919-834-HELP. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for anonymous tips that help solve cases.

Grover was charged with driving impaired, driving with a revoked license and failure to reduce speed. State Department of Correction records show he was convicted of speeding to elude arrest in 2009.
