Wreck Knocks Out Utility Pole, Electricity

Thousands of customers in south Raleigh were without power for about an hour early Monday after a car knocked out a utility pole, authorities said.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Thousands of customers in south Raleigh were without power for about an hour early Monday after a car knocked out a utility pole, authorities said.

The car struck a pole at Carolina Pines Avenue and Oak Road shortly before midnight, authorities said. Power was out to more than 2,800 customers.

Power was restored to most of the affected area within in hour, but some customers remained in the dark until about 5:30 a.m.

There was no information on the condition of the driver in the wreck.
