Wreck closes street in Durham

Posted November 4, 2011

— A single-car wreck knocked out a utility pole on South Alston Avenue between Cox Avenue and Price Avenue in Durham Friday morning and will likely keep the street closed for several more hours, police said.

A driver ran into the pole around 3:20 a.m. but was not hurt, authorities said. The name of the driver was not released.

Duke Power officials were on the scene early Friday morning working to repair the utility pole.

No lines were down due to the wreck but the street will likely be closed for several more hours. Police have set up barricades and detour signs and traffic is being detoured around the via Price Avenue, Colfax Street and Cox Avenue.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area or be prepared for the detour.

No other information was available.

Sounds like Durham has at least one safe street-because it's closed!!!

Someday-maybe Durham will get it's act cleaned up. This will not happen until clean-uncorrupt politicians run this once great city!
