One northbound I-95 lane reopens near Wilson-Nash county line

Posted October 24, 2012

— One northbound lane of Interstate 95 has reopened at the Wilson-Nash county line, near mile marker 125, following a multi-vehicle crash, authorities said Wednesday morning.

Drivers are advised to use caution in the area and seek alternate routes if possible. The northbound exit closest to the crash scene is Exit 121, which is U.S. Highway 264.

The crash is also causing problems for southbound I-95 traffic, as onlooker delays have created congestion, authorities said.

This is a sad situation. But, from what I have seen is that these tractor trailers travel at way too high of speeds knowing that they require more breaking distance. The speed limit should be lower for these trucks. And either way, 70 mph is too high of a speed. I don't know how many times I have been almost hit by tractor trailers on I-95. I try to avoid that highway as much as possible.

Any further updates on this crash forthcoming?

This is why we do not want to spend any money on I-95, it will only make people drive faster. Lets put more pot holes in the road so they will slow down

I get WRAL news headlines via email and it said this crash involved two semi tractor trailer rigs.

Nevermind unrelated, it was a homicide.

@ Butterflies ; Wilson police are investigating a homicide at an apartment in the 1900 block of Lipscomb Road East. A nearby school was put on lockdown as a precaution

Easiest detour is take 64 to Hwy 301 north through Rocky Mount and then rejoin I-95....hope nobody was seriously hurt....

This have anything to do with Lipscomb Rd in Wilson? Or is that blocked off for different reasons?
