FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Less than a day after North Carolina law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty were honored in Fayetteville, someone stole the wreath that was used in the ceremony.

Fayetteville police said the wreath was removed from the Peace Officers Memorial at about 12:20 a.m. Thursday.

Law enforcement officers donated the $110 used to buy the wreath, police said.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, police departments in Fayetteville, Hope Mills Police, Fort Bragg, and Spring Lake and the state Highway Patrol participated in the Wednesday ceremony, which was part of National Law Enforcement Memorial Week.
