WRAL-TV temporarily off the air, for some

Posted December 10, 2009

— WRAL-TV will go off the air, for part of Friday morning, for some viewers so that engineers can perform required transmitter maintenance.

The outage affects all viewers, with the exception of Time Warner Cable customers.

Maintenance begins at 12:37 a.m. Friday and is scheduled to last until 4:30 a.m. Friday.

Afterward, transmission will be at reduced power and might not be available for some over-the-air viewers.

Maintenance will resume Saturday at 12:37a.m. and last until 5:30 a.m. Saturday.

Transmission is expected to be back at full power Saturday morning.

I hardly ever see WRAL TV so it's always off the air at my house - my converter box was a total waste of money - sometimes the channels are there, most of the time "signal has been lost". I thought WRAL was going to channel 48 - I can't get either one, channel 5 or 48. Thank goodness I have a satellite dish and don't have to rely on that converter box, or I would never get to watch the news!
