Bob Vernon, an anchorman at WRAL-TV in the early 1990s, died Sunday in Colorado, according to family members. He was 70 years old.
During his tenure, Vernon anchored the noon news and handled much of WRAL's promotional voice over work. He left the station to open his own business.
Vernon is survived by his wife, Doris, and two sons. The couple moved to the Denver area about a year ago to be closer to family.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Parker United Methodist Church in Parker, Colorado.
