WRAL2: 24-Hour News and Weather Programming

WRAL2 is your source for local news and weather through the day, special local coverage, original programming and weather updates every half-hour.

WRAL2, originally called WRAL NewsChannel, was the first 24-hour local news channel in North Carolina. For Time Warner digital cable subscribers, WRAL2 is available on channel 256. Over-the-air viewers can receive it on digital channel 5.2.

Viewers of WRAL2 can get updates from the WRAL WeatherCenter at least six times per hour, and see frequent weather information at the bottom of the screen.

For those who miss WRAL news, or want to watch it again, the WRAL2 replays newscasts, letting viewers watch the latest headlines at almost any hour of the day. See our TV Schedule program guide for times.

WRAL2 also offers live coverage of local events, including press conferences, trials and special celebrations. Recent coverage includes news conferences following the ACC Tournament, the installation ceremony for NCSU Chancellor James Oblinger and coverage of local forums, including Emerging Issues and Horizon 2100.

WRAL2's on-screen format offers updated weather forecasts and scrolling news headlines from WRAL.com.

During election season, viewers can also count on WRAL2 for the latest poll results and race coverage. During inclement weather, WRAL2 airs constant school and business closing information.

WRAL2 programming includes locally produced public affairs programs, including Headline Saturday, Rewind, NC Spin, and Tarheel Talk. In addition, viewers can also watch syndicated programs like CBS MarketWatch, First Business and AgDay.

WRAL2 launched as the WRAL NewsChannel in July 2001.
