DURHAM, N.C. — Durham city leaders have given Capitol Broadcasting, WRAL's parent company, naming rights for a new downtown performing arts plaza.

Capitol Broadcasting will pay $300,000 a year for up to 20 years for naming rights.

The plaza will feature a performance center that will seat 2,800 people and could offer a variety of mid-size performances throughout the year. It will be located next to the American Tobacco Historic District.

The city broke ground Dec. 18.
