Reporter says goodbye Raleigh, hello Clayton

Published: 2012-08-16 16:32:00
Updated: 2012-08-16 16:32:04

We're saying goodbye this Friday to WRAL reporter Stacy Davis, who has accepted a job as the Town of Clayton's first-ever public information officer.

Stacy joined WRAL News in 2008 and "did a terrific job on the morning news," said News Director Rick Gall. "She then shifted to the evening news where her storytelling has excelled. We’ll miss her ability to land key interviews, make ordinary stories extraordinary, and deliver compelling live shots."

The Town of Clayton hired Stacy after reviewing more than 80 applications for the job.

"She's catapulted off aircraft carriers, jumped out of planes with Army paratroopers and soared through the clouds in jet fighters, but (Stacy) says taking the plunge as Clayton’s PIO will be a challenge that’s just as exciting and rewarding," the town said.

In her new role, beginning Sept. 4, Stacy will "tackle the demanding task of keeping the public informed on everything Clayton, whether it’s road closures due to an accident, a public hearing on a new development, to news about the exciting musical acts set to entertain at the much‐anticipated 2012 Harvest Festival or spectacular Clayton Center," the town said.

"I thrive on telling stories, and I see this job as one of the best story‐telling jobs around,” Stacy said. “I’ll be telling Clayton’s story! In the local media, on our local public access channel, on social media, I’ll be getting the word out about all that this amazingly charming and growing town has to offer. And it’s where I’m raising my family ... so who wouldn’t want to be paid to brag about the place they call home?”

Stacy has been a journalist for more than 15 years and previously worked at WTKR-TV in Norfolk, Va., where she spent seven years as a military reporter and weekend anchor. She was born in Philadelphia and is a graduate of the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.

Please join us in congratulating Stacy and wishing her all the best!

I enjoyed Stacy, thought she was one of the best local reporters. Good luck!

She did a great job covering the Edwrads trail. She was professional, but kept a sense of humor when the alternate jurors went style. Those were long hours for y'all. I would see the news trucks early heading west on 40,

Good luck.

Sorry to see you go, Stacey. I wish you nothing but the best on your new journey.

I just want wish Stacy all the best of luck with her new job and future endeavors. I remember her from her days at WTKR and was ecstatic to see her on WRAL. She was definitely dedicated to her work at both stations and will be a tremendous asset to Clayton. Best wishes, you will be missed.
