Duke, NC State take over WRAL-TV on Thursday

Published: 2012-02-14 16:43:00
Updated: 2012-02-15 17:42:58

The next primetime ACC Basketball game (North Carolina State @ Duke) is scheduled Thursday night from 9 to 11 p.m.

So that the maximum number of viewers can see both the primetime dramas and the game, WRAL-TV will broadcast the regularly scheduled shows over night.

  • Person of Interest has been rescheduled to air from 1:37 to 2:37a.m. Friday morning
  • The Mentalist has been rescheduled to air from 2:37 to 3:37 a.m. Friday morning

If the basketball game goes past 11 p.m., "WRAL News at 11," "Late Show with David Letterman" and "Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson" will air on a delay.

The listed times are tentative and subject to change. Viewers should set their recording devices to record from 1:30 a.m. to 4:30 a.m. to make sure the programs are recorded in their entirety.

WRAL is really good at what they do, which is running a TV station. I'm convinced they do things the best way they can for their business (yes, it's a business). I'd much rather watch "The Mentalist", but I can read a book (or go out) instead. No big deal.

Which one of the programs..local sporting events or national tv shows bring money to this region? Which one of the programs will be shown every off season for eternity? Stop complaining set your DVRs and maybe watch some real reality for a change.

"As opposed to watching some teenage boys play a game?"

You know, if it came on in reruns then yes, I would probably watch it at a later date. Unfortunately, live sporting events don't go over quite as well in reruns...but that's just my opinion. And yes, if the Mentalist is your sole reason for being alive on Thursday night, you do need to get out.

All right all you complainers...

LOCAL TV stations exist to serve LOCAL interests. NCState and Duke sports are both LOCAL! It used to be that if something like that came on YOU NEVER EVEN GOT TO WATCH what it displaced!

Welcome to the real world, stop whining and grow up.

"I watch network tv, but there's no reason you can't watch it in the reruns later on or streaming online. Like a previous poster said, if you're worried about the mentalist or person of interest, then you really do need to get out more."

With all the new channels added by going digital why interrupt normal programming with something so trivial will switch to channel 9 instead.

I can't imagine that anyone actually watches nitwit, er network TV shows in the first place...

"2:37am -3:37am..who comes up with this mess? I've missed the end of programs several times because the DVR didn't know to record the next show. grrr."

Operator error.

Why can't you show Person of Interest and Mentalist on 5.2 at their regular times? Not everyone has recording devices and I wouldn't think WRAL wanted us to desert to NBC,ABC or some other channel permanently!
