Congrats to our 'News Director of the Year'

Our WRAL family recently won nine awards from the Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas, and one award in particular is very special to us.

We secretly nominated our newsroom boss, Rick Gall, for "News Director the Year," and he won! You can read one of our nomination letters here.

We had a little celebration for Rick this morning, and, in true Rick Gall fashion, he attributed his success to us and the work we do. Such a classy guy.

Please join me in congratulating Rick and the rest of our award-winning crew:

Congrates to WRAL, I hope Pams leaving was totally voluntary, she was a delight to watch with her bubbly demeaner

WYFF in Greenville SC won best newscast. Fox Charlotte won best sports report. News 14 Carolina won best Political-Election. WYFF in Greenville SC won best Political-General. Fox Charlotte won best series. WTVD 11 won best spot news.

Congrats on the accolades, I will have to say, WYFF news from 5 through 6:30 pm is fast paced and well put together.

I'd be interested in knowing who won all the First Places.
