— WRAL-TV anchor David Crabtree has been awarded the 2007 Earle Gluck Distinguished Service Award by the North Carolina Association of Broadcasters.

Crabtree was honored for his work on the air and his commitment to community service. The award was presented Sunday at the NCAB's annual convention in Wrightsville Beach.

The award, one of the highest honors given by the NCAB, was first presented in 1973 to recognize individuals who have made a substantial contribution to the success and achievements of the organization, the broadcast industry in North Carolina
and their communities. The award is named after Earle Gluck, who was instrumental in the development of the NCAB.

Congratulations on a well-deserved award. I am from Raleigh but am living in Richmond to take care of my aging inlaws and one of the things I miss most is the WRAL Evening News. The local news stations here pale in comparison and I cannot bring myself to watch them. I watch the webcasts whenever I can. You deserve the honor, David! Three Cheers!!

I also LOVE the Crabber! I think he's one of the most 'natural' news anchors I've encountered (this after watching news in NY and Philadelphia!). His chemistry is great - not matter who he's interacting with (Sherry and Bill in the morning or The Fish in the evening). You Go David!!! Congratulations!
