WRAL poll: Burr opens up lead on Ross
Two-term Republican U.S. Sen. Richard Burr has widened his lead over Democratic challenger Deborah Ross, according to a WRAL News poll released Tuesday.

SurveyUSA polled 659 people statewide who have already cast their ballots or are likely to vote between Friday and Monday and found that Burr has a 49 to 43 percent lead. The poll has a margin of error of +/- 3.9 percentage points.
Ross continues to hold an advantage among women voters, but Burr has doubled his lead among men, from 12 to 24 points, since the earlier poll. Burr also has overtaken Ross among voters 50 and older, while she has cut his lead among voters ages 18 to 49 from 10 to 3 points.
As in the presidential and gubernatorial campaigns, the GOP has expanded its lead among rural voters in the Senate race. Burr now leads Ross by 25 points in that demographic, up from 16 points in early October. He also has cut into her lead in North Carolina cities, from 22 points three weeks ago to 9 points.
