We have rolled out a new and improved version of our popular iControl Doppler feature. iControl allows you to take control of weather data, displaying everything from current radar to future temperatures and many other fields.
To get iControl, just type ‘iControl’ in the search box. The standard zoom in/out map controls are in the upper left, and you can click the pushpin in the bottom left to display your current location on the map if your computer or device supports location services. You can move the move the map by clicking or tapping and dragging the map in the direction you want it to move.
iControl defaults to showing the current radar data. You can switch between past/current data and Futurecast data by clicking “Past” or “Future” at the bottom of the window. The rewind, play and forward buttons, as well as the slider control, allow you to set the time you are interested in seeing or animate the data display.
By popular demand, we also have a full screen option — just click or tap the link right beneath iControl to have it fill your browser screen. You can take it completely full screen by using your browser’s “Presentation” or “Full Screen” modes.
The update gives you more data to view, including hurricane tracks, current snow cover, and the Road Weather Index, very useful when the weather could affect your commute or travel plans. Access all the available data by clicking or tapping the icon in the bottom right corner that looks like a stack of papers.
This panel allows you to select what data you want to view as well as a range of overlays, such as current alerts, a summary of recent lightning and storm track. You can scroll down on this panel to see additional options, including switching between a satellite map and a basic road map.
We hope you enjoy the new and improved iControl! Leave us a comment in this blogpost and let us know what else you would like to have available.
