"On the Edge" is a half-hour documentary that follows the story of Lamont Moore, a 19-year-old member of the Crips gang.

Moore was suspended from his high school, got involved in a robbery and spent two years in prison. After his release, his public school wouldn’t take him back, so Moore enrolled in the EDGE program. EDGE stands for education, development, growth and employment. Its goal is to help students who've been kicked out of public schools earn a GED and get enrolled in college.

"On the Edge" chronicles Lamont’s challenging journey through the EDGE program. It profiles EDGE’s director, a dynamic 71-year old woman who’s committed to helping these troubled youths get on the right path in life. It tells the stories of other gang members who have graduated from EDGE, and it shows how a successful program that can reduce gang-related crime is facing elimination because of a lack of funding.

"On the Edge," hosted by WRAL News anchor David Crabtree, aired June 2, 2011.

I forgot to say that Miss Fran is a marvelous lady. She really does have a gift to help those students. I wonder does she have children of her own.

I really think this is a good idea. I think each student should memorize Proverbs chapter 4 and make it part of their lives...just saying :)

Just watched it! Miss Fran does seem to be a wonderful woman and God sent. I aplaud her for all that she as well as the other teachers have done and are doing, and will continue to do for for the youth of Durham.
