Here's a fact: Right now, in our community, 1 in 4 children and 1 in 5 adults wake up hungry.

WRAL and Radio One Raleigh have partnered with The Inter-Faith Food Shuttle in a campaign to provide emergency food, but also innovative solutions to the root causes of hunger. The community partnership called HungerFreeNC is a "feed, teach, grow" movement aimed at solving the community's hunger problems.

Next week, WRAL will present some special programming on the topic. Here's the schedule:

7 p.m., Monday, July 21, WRAL-TV: A Place at the Table
7 p.m., Thursday, July 24: WRAL documentary Hungry for Answers
6 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, July 25: HungerFreeNC MEDIAthon to benefit Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, WRAL-TV, FOXY 107/104, 103.9 The Light and K97.5

Friday's fundraiser will be the first day-long MEDIAthon on TV, radio and the web to raise money for the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle. WRAL and Radio One Raleigh will be live from the MEDIAthon set throughout the day, including a half-hour special at 1 p.m., Friday.

Check WRAL's HungerFreeNC website for more information and to learn how you can help. Your support helps Inter-Faith Food Shuttle teach nutrition and culinary skills, set up neighborhood mobile markets, provide Backpack Buddies and train beginning farmers to grow their own food.
