World of Bluegrass: Day-by-day guide

Wide Open Bluegrass 2014

IBMA's World of Bluegrass kicks off Tuesday and runs through the weekend in downtown Raleigh. With so many events happening, Out and About decided to break it down by day.

Tuesday and Wednesday

Bluegrass Ramble starts Tuesday night at venues including Kings Barcade, Pour House, Lincoln Theatre and Tir na Nog. Shows are 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday and require tickets. You can get ramble-only tickets for $30 for a single day pass or $75 for all nights.

Thursday

The International Bluegrass Music Awards Show is tonight at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts' Memorial Hall. North Carolina's own Balsam Range is up for a lot of awards. Also, actor and musician Steve Martin will be receiving a distinguished achievement honor from IBMA earlier that day at a special luncheon. No word on if he will be attending the ceremony that night. Tickets start at $60.

Friday

If you didn't get tickets to Wide Open Bluegrass' main stage shows at Red Hat Amphitheater don't worry because there is still a lot of bluegrass happening today. The Wide Open Bluegrass Street Festival will feature live music, dancing and great food. Gates open at noon and festivities continue until 11 p.m.

If you want to enjoy more bluegrass, hit up Deep South, Lincoln Theatre, Tir na Nog, Bittersweet, Common 414, Paddy O' Beers, The Oxford and Carolina Ale House on Glenwood Avenue for "Late Night Bluegrass" concerts from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Saturday

Tickets are still available for today's Wide Open Bluegrass' main stage shows at Red Hat Amphitheater. Gates open at 11 a.m. and shows start at 11:30 a.m. Headliners include The Infamous Stringdusters and Sam Bush Band. The Wide Open Bluegrass Street Festival also continues today will feature live music, dancing and great food. Gates open at noon and festivities continue until 11 p.m.
