— Tickets for World Beer Fest Raleigh went on sale today, Jan. 28, at noon.

All About Beer magazine is bringing the festival to downtown Raleigh. The event takes place in Moore Square Saturday, April 5, and features over 250 beers.

General admission and VIP tickets are available. General admission tickets are $45 and include unlimited two-ounce tastings and access to the Art of Beer Experience, which features beer ingredient samplings, pairings, educational seminars and more.

VIP tickets are $90 and include all of that and more – access to the VIP lounge in Cobblestone Hall (private bathrooms!), a traveling beer dinner, where guests can sample dishes from local chefs paired with beer, and a commemorative gift from the festival. Plus, VIPs have the opportunity to sample beers not available to the rest of the festival.

There are two four-hour sessions to choose from at the festival. The afternoon session is from 12-4 p.m. and the evening session is from 6-10 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online through etix.com.

Beer, food and live music lineups are still in the works, so we'll be looking out for those announcements coming soon!

You do know that the beer fest is an annual thing, and there's usually more men than women, right? You sound like a sexist pig.

I like going to the beer fest, and I'm female. I hate being around all the drunk guys who can't even see straight, yet think they're God's gift to women.

@GSWALKER, I’m not sure why you’re so focused on women drinking at a beer fest. Men drink more beer, more often and more heavily. And, there’s this:

“There is a wide gender gap when it comes to alcoholic beverage preferences, according to the Consumer Edge Insight survey. Among all men, beer is by far their favorite alcoholic beverage with 50%, while 29% name spirits. 17% name wine, ...Among women, wine grabs the number one spot with 36% naming it as their favorite, followed closely by spirits with 33%. Beer falls into a distant third-place among women with 24%...”

Great. Because what downtown Raleigh needs is more drunk college chicks and middle-aged soccer moms from Cary. Oh muh gawd ya'll I'm soooo buzzin'.
