World Beer Fest, Rock and Shop lead weekend best bets

RALEIGH, N.C. — A little something for everyone this weekend! 

First up, it is First Friday in downtown Raleigh. Check out our guide for a list of drink and food specials and events.

Sample hundreds of craft beers at the World Beer Festival this Saturday in downtown Raleigh. Learn about the science of beer and more during seminars. This year's VIP ticket ($90) boasts a traveling beer dinner. If you just want to sample some beer and enjoy the music, general admission tickets are $45. 

The Full Frame Documentary Film Festival continues this weekend throughout downtown Durham. Tickets to all films are $15. 

Shop works from more than 75 artisans while you listen to local bands during the annual Rock and Shop Market at the Durham Armory on Saturday. The market is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

The new IMAX film “Island Of Lemurs: Madagascar” hits theaters this weekend. You can view it at the IMAX theatre at Marbles Kids Museum starting Friday. The 3D film takes you inside the world of lemurs living in Madagascar. The story of this endangered species is narrated by Morgan Freeman. 

Comic Katt Williams brings his "Growth Spurt" tour to the PNC Arena in Raleigh on Friday night. Tickets start at $44.

E! late night host Chelsea Handler brings her "Uganda Be Kidding Me" comedy tour to the Durham Performing Arts Center Saturday night. Tickets start at $56.

Things are going to get colorful at Walnut Creek Amphitheater on Saturday as the Color Me Rad 5K rolls into town. Runners will be hit with splatters from color bombs and cannons as they run this course. Registration is $45.

N.C. State is hosting its first Run. Dance. Glow event on Friday night on its Centennial Campus. The event will includes a 3-mile Glow Run, highlighted with music, DJs and people in glow in the dark attire. GLOW Zumba, face painting and more will start at 6:30 p.m. Starting at 8 p.m., there will be a DayGlow party that includes DJs, food and drink. NCSU student living on campus get in free. Students, staff and other university affiliated folks get in for $10. For everyone else it is $25 to get in.
