I get emails sometimes about local parenting workshops. I thought both of these might be of interest to many of you.

N.C. Parent Consultants will lead a workshop series called Creating Conscious Connections with Children. The series for parents and teachers is 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 17, Aug. 24 and Aug. 31 at Endeavor Charter School's multi-purpose room, 9400 Forum Dr., Raleigh. The cost is $45 per person or $70 per couple. The three-week workshop is designed to help create an environment at home and school where children learn to become their own problem solvers.

A side note: I'm excited that N.C. Parent Consultants, made up of former staffers from Wake County's Project Enlightenment, will be sharing some back to school tips on Go Ask Mom next week. So stay tuned.

And law firm Stevens & Hand will offer the Parents Will Seminar: Tips to Follow for Family Changes from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 19 at the law office at 547 Keisler Dr. in Cary. Attorney Kara Daniels Hand will present the free seminar with information on wills, tips for simplfying the process and information for new and expectant parents, including what paperwork parents should take to the hospital before childbirth as well as other steps to remember as the family grows.

The seminar is free, but space is limited. Registration is required. Call 919-858-5111 to register.
