Workshop for teens, parents explores realities of college sports

The workshop, called College and the Business of Athletics, will cover the realities of athletic recruiting; social media do's and don'ts for athletes; when to start academic-athletic prep for college; how to create a college plan; and other topics.

For high school students interested in playing college sports, the Wade Edwards Learning Lab in Raleigh has an interesting program coming up this month ...

The workshop, called College and the Business of Athletics, will cover the realities of athletic recruiting; social media do's and don'ts for athletes; when to start academic-athletic prep for college; how to create a college plan; and other topics.

The program, produced by the learning lab and the Learning Illumination Center, is free. Seating is limited and registration is required by Feb. 18. (That's Saturday).

The learning lab is at 714 St. Mary's St., Raleigh, across from Broughton High School.
