Workers rescued from eastern NC grain bin

Rescue crews pulled five workers from a grain bin at a farm northeast of Elizabeth City Monday afternoon, authorities said.

CAMDEN, N.C. — Rescue crews pulled five workers from a grain bin at a farm northeast of Elizabeth City Monday afternoon, authorities said.

The workers became trapped in the bin at F.P Wood & Son/George Wood Farm, at 113 N.C. Highway 343 South, in Camden.

All five had been rescued by 6 p.m. Two workers were listed in good condition, but the conditions of the others were unknown.

The Camden County Sheriff’s Office, the Camden County Fire Department, the Elizabeth City Fire Department and the South Mills Fire & Crawford Fire Department were involved in the rescue effort.
