FORT BRAGG, N.C. — A former employee was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty to charges of stealing nearly $30,000 from a Fort Bragg restaurant and bar.

Kennard Haywood Ellison Jr., 35, was sentenced to 16 months imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised released, on one count of theft of public money from Sports USA. He was also ordered to pay full restitution.

Prosecutors said that an internal review by Fort Bragg authorities noted discrepancies in the financial records of Sports USA while Ellison was employed there. Fort Bragg officials turned the case over to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
