DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police on Wednesday said a Washington woman injured last week in a two-vehicle wreck on Interstate 40 has died.

Sherry Blackburn was the passenger on a motorcycle driven by her husband, Ricky Blackburn, when the motorcycle was involved in a wreck with an SUV Friday morning near the N.C. 751 exit on I-40 West in Durham.

Authorities say the wreck happened when several vehicles suddenly slowed down.

Sherry Blackburn was ejected from the bike in the wreck, and authorities said Wednesday that she died at the hospital as a result of her injuries.

Ricky Blackburn has been released from the hospital after receiving treatment.

The driver of the SUV involved in the wreck was not hurt. No charges have been filed in the wreck, but authorities said they are continuing to investigate it.
