Woman struck by car in Garner

A woman was hit by a car Thursday morning as she stood at a shopping center entrance in Garner, police said.

GARNER, N.C. — A woman was hit by a car Thursday morning as she stood at a shopping center entrance in Garner, police said.

Jessica Lynn Watson, 25, of Garner, was holding an advertising sign for a nail salon in the shopping center when she was struck by a 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser.

Watson was taken to WakeMed Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Garner police said. A passenger in the vehicle was also taken to the hospital.

The driver, James Edward Evans, 59, of Raleigh, was charged with driving while impaired and careless and reckless driving.
