— A woman was hit by a car Thursday morning as she stood at a shopping center entrance in Garner, police said.

Jessica Lynn Watson, 25, of Garner, was holding an advertising sign for a nail salon in the shopping center when she was struck by a 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser.

Watson was taken to WakeMed Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Garner police said. A passenger in the vehicle was also taken to the hospital.

The driver, James Edward Evans, 59, of Raleigh, was charged with driving while impaired and careless and reckless driving.

Given he was charged with driving while impaired on a Thursday "morning" this guy probably has some ignored the law on more than one occasion and likely will again.

Based on his record, this was bound to happen. He has served a couple of short sentences, but obviously not enough to prevent him from repeating his behavior. Given his record, I have doubts that revoking his license would keep him off the road.
