Woman sought in Durham man's death

— Police said Friday that they were searching for a woman suspected of fatally shooting a Durham man Thursday night.

Jerry Wayne Morgan, 54, of Sidneys Way, died at Durham Regional Hospital a few hours after being shot on Cheek Road, police said.

According to a preliminary investigation, Morgan had been working on a vehicle in the 2700 block of Cheek Road when a woman approached him, exchanged words with him and then shot him. The woman then fled in a burgundy Oldsmobile Bravada, police said.

    Wow! I'm sadden by this entire story. Such heartless people. If you witnessed a shooting death, and had even a small heart your thoughts and prayers would be with this family right now, not in questioning if a car got fixed! If you knew Jerry (the victim) you would know that Jerry knew his cars like a woman knows her babies. Whatever the shooters motives no one deserves this. Jerry was a good man and a excellent mechanic. My thoughts and prayer go out to the family. Rest in peace Jerry!
