Woman shot in apparent drive-by in Durham

Posted August 11, 2008

— A woman was shot Monday outside a McDougald Terrace apartment.

Durham Police spokeswoman Kammie Michael said that the victim was grazed by the bullet, and had been taken to Duke Hospital for treatment.

An investigation into the incident is on-going, Michael said, but it appears that the woman was the victim of crossfire.

Occupants of two cars were reportedly shooting at each other in the area of Wabash and Durham streets.

chaseme: I hardly think this is only a problem for Durham. Try reading a few other articles and you might see this type of thing is happening everywhere.

By the way, I don't think the Durham PD would really want to waste time patrolling "Few Gardens". Last I heard, it was torn down over 4 years ago.

All the good citizens of Durham need to get gun permits and start protecting themselves. The State needs to make committing any crime when you are an active gang member a capital crime. we need to trim that herd fast.

Hey "chaseme", why don't you go on a ride along with one of those officers that apparently aren't doing it at all? The foolishness and ignorance of people these days is mind blowing. What do you think should be done? Should we post an officer on every corner and raise taxes 1000%? Should the officers stop taking wreck reports and "I lost my wallet" calls and just wait around for someone to get shot or robbed? No...because then you would complain about how lazy they are. It's amazing that any officer has the will to serve a bunch of complainers that ignorantly scrutinize work that they don't understand. Be a part of the solution! If you want something to say, say it to some of these children who grow up and become adults that overpopulate our prison and have "no hope" of rehabililtation. If you're not actively helping to fix what's wrong, then be quiet about it. If you are, you probably wouldn't have so much time to complain.

McDougal Terrace, Hoover Road, Few Gardens, etc, etc. The Durham police dept knows about these places, have known for years, and you would think they could "patrol/police" these areas a little better (that is if they do at all). When is the City of Durham going to get tough? When is the City of Durham going to get smart? These thugs running around the streets with no education and a gun continue to "outsmart" police and get away with murder...literally! Wake up citizens of Durham and demand more from your tax dollars!!!!

Didn't a child get wounded in a drive by shooting at McDougald Terrace last week?

All law abididing contributing members of society are either hanging out or participating in a little gun play on a Monday afternoon. It's us boring people who go to a full time job to support most of them who got it wrong.
