Woman shot early Saturday at Fayetteville hotel

— Fayetteville police were investigating Saturday morning after an 18-year-old woman was shot at a hotel on Bragg Boulevard.

Police Department spokesman Todd Joyce said Jaimila Smaw was shot by an unidentified man at about 2 a.m. at Knights Inn Hotel, at 2848 Bragg Boulevard, after she responded to a knock at her door.

Smaw was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where she was in fair condition Saturday afternoon.

Authorities released a photo of a vehicle that may belong to the suspect in the shooting. The car is two-toned with a grey or white top and dark blue or black bottom.

    Why would an 18yo girl be alone in a hotel across town and why would she open the hotel door at 2am and why in the world would somebody just shoot her in the chest for no reason? Something about this does not sound right. That, or Fayetteville just sank to a new low.
