— Thursday was a bad day for Katherine Ann Mitchell.

Mitchell told police she awoke Thursday morning to find her 2003 Dodge Intrepid stolen from the 1400 block of Acadia Street.

Shortly after 8 p.m. Thursday, Mitchell said she was at a Guess Road car wash when a man approached her and asked for 50 cents. When she replied she didn't have any change, he pulled a gun and drove off with her 2001 Mazda 626, as well as a purse filled with credit cards and cash, she told police.

Police said they are investigating the two car thefts and have no suspects in either case.

    Two thoughts:
Why does the article title indicate that she SAID her cars were stolen, rather than that they were? Are there doubts?
Also, if they were stolen, the relatively low market value doesn't matter. My truck's worth about $800 on the open market, but it lets me get to work every day and make a living. If someone takes it, I'm sunk. What you've lost on paper and what you've lost in reality aren't always the same thing.

Why move , getting cars stolen, or anything stolen for that matter, happens everwhere. How many times have you heard this one, "stuff like this just doesn't happen here" YEAH OKAY.

The economy must be really bad if someone is stealing a Dodge Intrepid. Probably broke down about 1/2 mile away.
