<b>RALEIGH, N.C.</b> — A woman's car fell several hundred feet from the Interstate 440 bridge early Sunday morning.

Raleigh police responded to the single-vehicle fatal wreck on Interstate 495 near I-440 around 2 a.m. Officials pronounced driver Darlene Bullock Branch, 42, dead at the scene.

The car left the road to the right and struck a concrete barrier between the New Hope Road and I- 440 exit ramps.

It traveled several hundred feet before falling multiple stories off the interstate.

The car struck several trees and a dumpster before coming to a stop below the bridge.
