PARKTON, N.C. — A 57-year-old Cumberland County woman died Friday morning at her Parkton home, authorities said.

Deputies responding to a home at 1061 Brisson Road at about 7 a.m. found Katie Lee Hunt unresponsive, and she was later pronounced dead.

Investigators said Saturday that Hunt died of natural causes.

Hunt's daughter, Leigha Hunt, said her brother found their mother's body shortly before 2 a.m. Rio Hunt lived with their mother, she said.

When Leigha Hunt arrived at the house, she said, she found her mother's bedroom had been ransacked. Someone had rifled through Katie Hunt's purse and had stolen her phone, according to her daughter.

Katie Hunt's body was in the corner of her bedroom with no noticeable signs of trauma, her daughter said.

Neighbor David Carter said he didn't hear any disturbance Thursday night.
