Woman robbed in Rocky Mount home

— A Rocky Mount woman was robbed in her home Tuesday night by two men, including one who was armed and masked, police said.

Police said one man knocked on the door of house at 769 Haggerty Trail shortly before 11 p.m. and asked to speak to a male resident of the house.

When the victim said the male resident wasn't home, the first man and a second masked man burst into the home, police said. They displayed a gun and demanded money, then fled out of the back door.

No injuries were reported.

    And if she had been a gun toting NC resident two would-be robbers would probably be in the morgue where they belong! Never open your door to strangers - never, never, never! She is very fortunate she was not raped or killed!

    This happened right behind the house where, last week, that nice young man took a hostage.

    Those are some nice people in that neighborhood, they just need more government money to make them happy.

    If I'm not expecting a visitor, I don't even bother getting up to see who's at the door...especially around 11pm at night!! Whoever it is will just have to go to my neighbors if they need something. Anyone I would let in my house at 11pm has my cell # and they'll call before coming over and ringing my door bell.

    Why do people insist on answering the door to strangers? Secondly, why would they tell a stranger that so and so wasn't home?? Seriously, if you are going to answer the door to strangers you are gonna have to start telling lies or buy a gun!
